A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED

He was born in Cincinnati on December 20, 1959 to Jerome Turner and Beverly (Iasillo) Turner. He married Laura (Sunberg) Turner on April 16, 1994. She survives along with their son, Eric James Turner.
Doug lived in Cincinnati his entire life. He was a graduate of Colerain High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. During the early part of his career, he applied his skills at Litton Industries and Campbell Hausfeld. Later, he transitioned to the medical field, where he worked for Ethicon Endo-Surgery developing medical devices for minimally invasive and open surgical procedures.
Doug was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, father, and mentor to others. He was often relied upon for his advice and guidance and was known for his ability to extensively research and address almost any household repair, car problem, or computer issue. He had a quick, unexpected wit and sense of humor that will be remembered by family and friends for years to come.
In addition to his wife and son, Doug is survived by his brothers Daniel Turner (Linda) of Cincinnati and David Turner (Nancy) of Rapid City, SD, father-in-law Richard Sunberg, sister-in-law Tina Turner, nephews Matthew Turner (Mattie), Joseph Turner, Alex Turner and nieces Elise Baker (Sam), Shawna Turner and Trisha Turner.

“I’m so sorry for your loss. I have very fond memories of our time working at Ethicon on project Houdini in the early 2010s. Doug had a great sense of humor, was a good design engineer who wasn’t afraid to share his thoughts, and someone I trusted to have my back when things got crazy at work. His Colerain ties also allowed us to connect on a more personal level since we shared some friendships that highlighted his being a helpful big brother in the early-80s. Your family will be in my prayers.”

“We (my parents and I) were so excited when Doug was born. First grandchild and my first nephew. I was 10 yrs. Old and finally had a real baby doll that moved and smiled and cried and well, you know the rest less desirable attributes. He lived up to all expectations and it never ended. Loved the way he doted over his family, always so damn responsible! He was inspiring and will be sadly missed. I know Eric and Laura will be lost for a bit, but he taught them well and they will persevere. My heart goes out to you.”

“Love you brother and thank you Laura and Eric for taking great care of Doug. It is so hard to comprehend this loss and my mind keeps thinking about the decades of influence you had on me and many others. Your mental and physical strength were unmatched, as I have been on both sides of these many times and can attest to both abilities! Add in your comedic personality and this loss feels like a part of me is no longer functioning, as you are a part of who I am today. Doug would always break problems down to their simplest form and warn me about “paralysis of analysis”, one of his favorite quotes. His knowledge still impacts every aspect of my life. Rest in peace my favorite oldest brother and may you enjoy eternity with Dennis, Mom and Dad”

“Doug was a pillar of our family and a huge influence on me through my formative years. Going to miss his humor a lot. The way he would re-tell teenage hijinks would have us red in the face. Much love to Laura and Eric as they navigate this difficult time.”
