Gary P. Ludwig

Palmer Funeral Home assisted the Family

Obituary via Palmer Funeral Home

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Gary passed away after nearly 39 years of marriage and a life marked by service, generosity, and joy.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Sheila and George Ludwig, he attended LaSalle High School graduating in 1965. During high school he was a singer in a band, The Fugitives, played baseball and enjoyed drag racing his Grand Prix!  Gary proudly volunteered and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as an air traffic controller and was deeply proud of his military service.  Gary is survived by his wife, Robin, daughters, Jordan, Carson, Michele, Monique, son, Geoffrey, sons and daughter in laws, grandchildren, and many friends.

Known as the light of the party and a man with a big heart, he was an unwavering source of strength, love, and support for his wife, daughters and son, and their spouses. Gary was a devoted dad who was always there for his children, never more than a phone call away and ready with one of his big, comforting hugs. Gary loved racing Tom Petty cars, was an aviation fanatic and enjoyed jazz music. He always made everyone laugh and was famous for his unforgettable fireworks shows. He traveled to nearly 30 countries, many of them with his wife on jazz cruises. One of Gary’s final wishes—to see Mount Rushmore—was fulfilled two months ago. His legacy of love, service, and joy lives on in all who knew him.

Gary also gave tirelessly to his community. For over 10 years, he opened his backyard to the Montessori Academy soccer teams welcoming hundreds of children. He served on boards, coached, traveled the world with his daughters’ soccer teams, and was a devoted fan of Premier Soccer, attending and watching matches across the globe.

The family wishes to thank his many care givers, including Maurita, Dr. Quinn, Dr. Nwabunike, and the E. Raclin Hospice House staff and doctors for extraordinary care in his last days.

Gary, you were bigger than life, and we miss you more than words can say. Though our hearts ache, we find comfort knowing you are at peace.

Please consider donations in Gary’s memory to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, 2700 Horizon Drive, Suite 120, King of Prussia, PA 19406
