Obituary via Frederick Funeral Home

It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of George W. Cosmah on May 12, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on September 23, 1935, in Coldiron, KY to the late George and late Lillian (nee Howard) Cosmah, George embraced life with open arms and a spirit that inspired all who knew him. He resided in Union, KY, where he built a life rich in love, legacy, and laughter.

George leaves behind his devoted wife, Bonnie C. (nee Little) Cosmah, along with the cherished memories of his late wives, Ruby F. (nee Adams) Cosmah and Wanda L. (nee Moorehead) Cosmah. He was a proud father to Steven (Bernice) Cosmah, Kyla (Jim) Schulten, Mary (Doug) Martini, Fred (Linda) Evans, and Jill (Chris) Scherff. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren-Stephanie, Melissa, Jacob, Patrick, Madison, Nicholas, Rachel, Jessica, Kyle, Brittany, Jonathan, and Emma-and he delighted in the joys of many great-grandchildren.

George was not only a remarkable family man but also a dedicated professional, having spent countless years in the automobile industry, culminating in his role as General Manager of a dealership. Revered by his colleagues and friends alike, many affectionately called him “Boss,” seeking his wisdom and guidance. His mentorship touched the lives of so many, establishing connections that will endure for generations.

A proud United States Army Veteran, George’s service from April 15, 1960, to May 7, 1962, marked just one of the many chapters of a life well-lived. He took pride in his active involvement with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), finding purpose in supporting his fellow veterans. His heart found solace at Seven Hills Church, where he fostered a deep community connection, nurturing his faith and the bonds of friendship.

George had a timeless passion for 50’s music, a soundtrack that echoed through the moments of his life, bringing joy and nostalgia to family gatherings. His essence was profoundly rooted in the warmth of family, a bond he cherished above all else. Whether celebrating milestones or simply sharing laughter, George’s presence was always the greatest gift.

As we gather to honor his extraordinary life, the funeral service will be held at Seven Hills Church, 6800 Hazel Court, Florence, KY 41042, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, with visitation starting at 9:00 AM and the service beginning at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, Georgia 30394, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, Disabled American Veterans, 860 Dolwick Drive, Erlanger, Kentucky, 41018 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306.

In this reflective moment, we celebrate George W. Cosmah-the father, the mentor, the beloved husband-the gentle giant with an immense heart. His legacy will continue to shine through his family and the countless lives he impacted. May he rest in eternal peace, his memory a guiding light for all who loved him.
