Obituary for George William Young Jr.
George William Young Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at the age of 86 in his cherished hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on November 15, 1938, George was a vibrant presence in the lives of those who knew him, known for his warm smile and deep passion for life.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, George traveled extensively during his service, all the while forging lasting friendships and collecting stories that he would share with pride. After his military career, he became a well-respected bar owner, operating Treb-De-Fox, where he welcomed countless patrons and built a strong community around a shared love for sports, particularly basketball and Cincinnati Bengals football.
George’s love for the outdoors was evident in his fondness for fishing, and he cherished the time spent with friends in the tranquility of nature. He was a devoted family man, survived by his best friend, Nancy (Jack) O’Keefe, daughter Lisa (Harvey) Gibson, son George (Lisa) Young III, sisters Betty Courter and Marilyn Fritz, and his treasured grandchildren-Tyler, Josh, Amanda, Matt, and Dustin-along with his great-grandchildren Bradley Green, Alexander Young, and Travis Tipton Jr. and great-great granddaughter, Nova Rae Green. His family will remember him for his strong spirit and unwavering support, which they will carry with them always.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George Young Sr. and Alma Young, as well as four sisters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE line). A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm. Burial will take place on Monday, March 24th, 2025 at 2:30pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of George can be made to the VFW 1042 Building Fund.
George William Young Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and joy, and his memory will forever echo in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. Our lives are richer for having had him among us, and he will be profoundly missed.
