Herbert Benedict III

april 15, 1946 – january 21, 2025

Herbert Benedict III

In loving memory of Herbert Benedict III, who graced this world with his presence on April 15, 1946, in Canton, Ohio. He was a proud veteran who dedicated his life to serving his country and supporting his community. Herbert peacefully passed away on January 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, leaving a legacy of warmth and kindness that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

Herbert was the beloved husband of 43 years to the late Carol Benedict, whose love and partnership he cherished deeply. He was a devoted father to his sons Brian (Lanita) Benedict, Adam (Rhonda) Benedict, Kevin (Danielle) Benedict, Eric Benedict, and David Benedict, and daughter Ann Benedict, nurturing each of them with the love and wisdom that only a dedicated father could provide. His pride extended to his grandchildren, Ashley, Gabrielle, Christina, Natalie, Delaney, Cooper, and Cameron, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He was a dear brother of the late Cynthia Campanelli, Susan (Donald) Hammond, late Thomas Benedict, and John Benedict. May his legacy of love and guidance continue to resonate through them.

A man of gentle spirit, Herbert found great happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished his morning walks with his dogs, Luna and Lily, explored the refreshing waters of the YMCA, and delighted in feeding the birds that visited his backyard. Herbert also had a passion for sports and spent countless hours cheering for his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, rejoicing in their victories. Notably, he departed this life mere moments after they won the National Championship, a fitting farewell for a man who embraced every moment with enthusiasm and joy.

Herbert’s faith was an integral part of his existence. He found solace in attending Bible study and cherished the community it fostered. He took great pride in supporting his grandchildren at their school and sporting events, always praising their efforts with a heart full of encouragement.

A celebration of Herbert’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until time of  funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd. Family and friends are welcome to gather to share memories, honor his legacy, and find comfort in one another during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Veterans Affairs (VA), 3200 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45220 in honor of Herbert’s service to our nation. In this time of sorrow, let us remember Herbert not just for his passing but for the joy he shared, the love he spread, and the memories we will forever cherish. May his spirit find peace, knowing he was loved deeply and will be missed immensely.
