Obituary via Spring Grove Funeral Home

James Crawford Davis, “Mr. D”, passed away on 10/29/2023 at the age of 83. He was a wonderful person, sweet, kind, and funny. He was loved and cherished by all who knew him, and his steadfast presence will be sorely missed. He had a special gift of turning friends into family wherever he lived. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia Davis, and the little Westie, Maggie Mae, two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, four nephews, two great nephews, two great nieces and many, many friends.

Jim was born in June 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio to James L. Davis and Madella Hart Davis. He was active in the old Mount Heathy Christian Church where he and Pat were junior youth ministers. After attending Mount Healthy High School, he attended a summer theatre workshop in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It was there that he found his true calling, the Theatre. After that summer, he joined the Air Force and served at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. As soon as Pat graduated from Miami University, they were married and moved to Texas to finish his enlistment. The two of them continued their love of the theatre by working at the Wichita Falls Civic Theatre and by helping to create a theatre group at the First Christian Church of Wichita Falls. Soon after the end of his service, they were called home to Mount Healthy, Ohio where Pat found a job teaching at Fairfield High School. It was there they built an award-winning Theatre Arts Program. After retiring from Fairfield High School as a Library Aide, Jim continued to work in the theatre with the Fairfield Footlighters. Pat and Jim worked and played together their entire married life. It could be said that when you stepped onto their stage you became family. He may be gone but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life is being scheduled for a later date and will be shared as soon it is available.
