James “Jim” Edward Snapp, devoted husband of 58 years to the late Cheryl Snapp (nee Ferguson), passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at the age of 78. Jim was the loving father of Rick Snapp and Cindy (Shawn) Hall, and the proud grandfather of Landon Hall. He was the dear brother of Carol Ann Snapp and the late Albert Snapp, William “Billy” Snapp, and Paul Snapp. He was also a beloved uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Born in Brooklyn, New York to Bill and Ann Snapp, Jim carried with him a hardworking spirit, a good sense of humor, and a love for storytelling that stayed with him throughout his life. He found joy in the simple things, especially collecting baseball cards, Hot Wheels, and coins, and he also enjoyed photography. He was an avid collector who enjoyed the process as much as the items themselves, taking time to learn about and carefully organize the things that interested him.

In the late 1980s, Jim began working for the Hamilton County Department of Developmental Disabilities, where he found great purpose in his work and later retired after more than thirty years of service. His commitment to the individuals he served also led him to volunteer with the Special Olympics, where the annual state games in Columbus, Ohio were a highlight each year. 

He especially enjoyed his time with his grandson, Landon. From holding him as a baby to later years when Landon would climb up on the recliner next to him for hours. They would sit together, watch videos, build Legos, and talk. They also enjoyed playing with Hot Wheels and using the long track to race them. Jim treasured watching Landon grow and sharing in his life over the years.

Jim will be remembered for his stories, his humor, and the love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Spring Grove Funeral Home (Northwest), 7830 Hamilton Ave, Mt Healthy, OH 45231, with the service immediately following. Interment will take place at Arlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics
