A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Michael Steinkoenig, of Cincinnati, who passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 9, 1950, James graduated from Lockland High School before starting a career at Jim Beam Distillery. However, the opportunity arose for him to become a homemaker, dedicating his time to raising his two daughters, Heather and Holly, with his beloved wife Betty, whom he married in 1983.
A man of many passions, James enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, and engaging in a bowling league with Betty. Their memorable trip out West left a lasting impression on him, and he often spoke of its beauty. He was known as a proud girl dad, actively involved in his daughters’ lives by coaching their sports teams and volunteering as a parent helper at their school, where he earned the endearing nickname “Mr. Jim.”
A devoted Cincinnati Reds fan, James never missed a game, sharing this love of sports with Betty. They also enjoyed solving puzzles together and hosting family game nights. Outside of his interests, James had a deep knowledge of the world, always willing to share his wisdom with those around him. He found joy in classic movies, music by the Beatles, and his clever sense of humor that never failed to bring a smile to those in his company.
Among his greatest treasures were his three grandsons, Tyler, Nolan, and Carter, whom he adored and cherished every moment spent with them. Tyler was not only his grandson but also his best friend, while Nolan and Carter brightened his days with their laughter and cheer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 9:00am-10:30am at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231. A funeral service will follow at 10:30am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 11:30am at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231.
