A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
James Rethman, a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at the age of 73 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on September 29, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, James lived a life filled with simplicity, joy, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.
A devoted assembly line worker in the hospitality industry, James dedicated many years of his life to Larosa’s, where his strong work ethic and warm spirit touched the lives of his colleagues. Though he held a high school diploma, his true education came from his experiences in nature, where he found solace in fishing, hunting, and camping. James loved nothing more than to embark on long car rides through the countryside, reveling in the beauty of the open road.
James will be lovingly remembered by his surviving family members: his brother, John (Darleen) Rethman; his niece, Jennifer (Omar) Gutierrez; and his nephews, Bryan (Elizabeth) Rethman and David (Laurie) Rethman as well as his 9 Great nieces and nephews. His warm smile and gentle nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In honor of James’ life and spirit, a memorial service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, where family and friends will gather to share stories, celebrate his passions, and reflect on the cherished memories they hold. James will be cremated, and his cremated remains will be laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH.
As we remember James, let us cherish the little moments, the laughter shared around a campfire, and the tranquility found in the great outdoors—elements that he embraced fully throughout his life. May he rest in peace, knowing he leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and adventure.
James was preceded in death by: His Parents Pearl and John Rethman, His children, Brandon Rethman and Shelly Rethman, and his second Wife Diane Rethman.
