It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James W. Henry, who left this world on June 23, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on January 29, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, James was a cherished member of his family, known for his warmth, kindness, and ability to make you laugh.

James lived a life filled with love and laughter, married to his high school sweetheart, LaVerne, for an incredible 73 years. Together, they raised a family that symbolizes strength and devotion. He is survived by his children, Connie (Paul) Bittner, Kim (Dale) Scheidt, Ed (Peggy)  Henry, and Becky (Willy) Pittman; his grandchildren, Ryan (Serena) Amlingmeier, Jena Bittner, Tara (Dion) Jones, Eric (Tracy) Scheidt, Brad Scheidt, Ashley (Brennan) Croy, Kevin (Amy) Henry, Keith (Samantha) Henry, Randy (Danielle Kuhn) Henry, and Matthew Pittman, as well as his adoring great grandchildren, Baleigh, Tyson, Duke, Mack, Nathen, Sami, Bo, Cooper, Harper,  Alexis, Hailey, and Landon.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, LaVerne Henry, his son, Jamie Henry, his parents, Charles and Isabella Henry and two sisters, Caroline Hudson and Anne Hamm.

A proud father, grandpa, and papa James embraced his family with open arms and a generous heart. He loved art, drawing and painting, leather crafting and wood carving. He enjoyed playing cards, especially a good game of poker. Known for his love of boating, camping and fishing in Brookville, Indiana. A proud member of the Masons and Shiners.

His life was a testament to hard work and a true provider for his family. He understood the importance of family and service to both his country and community.

James’ legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, 9:30 AM – 11:30AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM at The Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home located at 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park). A graveside service will immediately follow in the Garden of Restoration.

We invite friends and family to join us as we honor James’ wonderful life and the love and laughter, he brought to all. Together, let us celebrate his spirit and the cherished memories we hold close to our hearts.
