Jennie Alice Roberts

may 6, 1943 – march 16, 2025

Jennie Alice Roberts

Jennie Alice Roberts (May 6, 1943 – March 16, 2025) It is with heavy hearts and joyful memories that we honor the life of Jennie Alice Roberts, affectionately known as Alice. She passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on May 6, 1943, in Wilmington, Delaware, she embodied a strong spirit of generosity, always serving others.

Alice’s professional journey was marked by her dedication to customer service management, where she excelled in leading teams and improving systems. Despite not holding a high school diploma, her hard work and determination led her to success and inspired those around her. She attained her GED late in life. Her greatest pride, however, was her family: her beloved children, Dale (Michele) Roberts (d. 2022), Joe Roberts, Denise Anderson, and Burton (Dawn) Roberts, and her unwavering partnership with her late husband, Burton Roberts (d. 2021).

In her later years, Alice cherished the deep bond she shared with her sisters, Marie (Anthony) Difurio and Margaret (Jim) Rimmer, who brought her hope and strength. Alice had a special relationship with her niece Vicki Franz (d. 2024) and great-niece Valarie Franz, that filled her heart with joy and laughter. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jennie and Henry Goetz, her son, Dale Roberts, her siblings, Shiela (Jack) Harvey, Rita (Nick) Machulski, and Michael (Eleanor) Goetz.

Alice’s legacy includes 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her love and devotion to her family were the cornerstone of her life. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, gardening, cooking, hosting family gatherings, and playing games. She was an amazing cook, renowned for her stuffed peppers, homemade pizza, lasagna, and East Coast subs. Her favorite dish to eat was Aunt Jessie’s eggplant—a family classic.

A woman of great strength and joy, Alice enjoyed listening to Christmas classics from Bing Crosby, Perry Como, and Andy Williams, cheering for the Cincinnati Reds, and simply being home—her favorite place in the world. She lived her life ensuring no one ever left her house hungry or empty-handed.

Memorial services to honor Alice’s remarkable life will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on March 21, 2025. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. A procession to Arlington Memorial Gardens will commence at 11:30 a.m., and a crypt side service will be held at noon, where Alice will be laid to rest with her husband.

Jennie Alice Roberts will be deeply missed, yet her love, kindness, and memory will forever inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.

“We are saddened by the passing of Alice. She lived in Brightstar with my mom, Donna Greenway. She was so young. We will miss her wit and candidness along with her beautiful spirit of caring. Her place was empty at the dinner table tonight and she was missed dearly. Peace and comfort to the family. ❤️🕊️✝️🙏”
