Jewell Wakeman

Mrs. Jewell F. Wakeman, born on September 13, 1935, in Cullman, AL, peacefully departed from this world on August 27, 2024, at Hospice of Hamilton, at the age of 88. She was mother of her children Bonnie, Teresa, and Jeff, and sister to Mary and sister-in-law to Kay and Rick. Jewell dedicated many years of her life to her profession as a Cake Decorator and Deli Worker at Kroger, showcasing her talent and creativity.

A passionate reader, she immersed herself in the pages of National Geographic magazines, expanding her knowledge and curiosity about the world.

Crafting with wool was a cherished pastime for Jewell who often gathered with neighbors for sewing sessions, fostering community bonds through creativity. Her faith was in Rockdale Methodist Church, and she ensured her children were introduced to the values of religion.

Jewell harbored a deep affinity for animals, showering her cats and dogs with love and care. Her nurturing spirit extended to all aspects of her life, leaving a mark on those who knew her.

Jewell is survived by her children, Bonnie Wakeman, Terri (Vernon) Litschgi, and Jeff Wakeman; sister, Mary (Rick) Brasington; sister-in-law, Kay Adams; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

“It was always a treat to visit Aunt Jewell Fay’s and get a glimpse of her magical world. My life was so much richer for having her in it. She will be so missed in our family!”

“Jewel Faye was my cousin and occasionally baby sitter. Our families lived close for many years while we were growing up. Unfortunately miles and time separated us from seeing each other much of our adulthood. Love and comfort to her family.”

“My beautiful, dear friend, I will miss you more than words can convey, I love you so much, rest peacefully.”
