Joseph H. Mayo

Mr. Joseph H. Mayo, age 81, passed away on September 19, 2023 after a hard fought battle with bladder cancer.

Joseph was born in Cincinnati, OH to William and Pauline (nee Massengale) Mayo. He proudly served his country as part of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years in the meat packing industry in the Cincinnati area.

He married Joan Flanagan of Latonia, Ky on October 7, 1977.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan Mayo, children, Julie Tucker, Jennifer (Joseph) Bissmeyer, Lisa Grote, Pamela (Charles) Cooper, grandchildren, Emily Stewart, Jessica (Winn) Williamson, Adrian (Jessica) Bolton, Ronny Hensley, Tyler (Moriah) Grote, Donna (Alex) Hensley-Rubenstahl, Tony Grote, Alexander Stewart, Carly (Joseph) Knippenberg, Elizabeth “the Lizard” Bissmeyer, 14 great-grandchildren, and many extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Raymond Grote, son-in-law David Tucker, brothers Frank Mayo, Jim Mayo, Sonny Mayo, Ronnie Mayo, sister, Sharon Thomas.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 22nd, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, when the services will begin, at The Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231. Once on the grounds of the memorial park, follow the BLUE line to the funeral home. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
