Karen Mary Ann Guenther

march 11, 1942 – january 21, 2025

Karen Mary Ann Guenther

Karen M.A. Guenther (nee Mahlerwein), mother of Douglas (Michelle), the late David (Melca), and Dan (Jill), sister of Jan (Gary) Webb and Becky (late Marty) Coffey. Grandmother to Jimmy, Christina, Marybeth, Nick, Stephanie, Molly, Lucy, Heidi, Maggie, and Carson. Great Grandmother to Lilah, Jordan, and Anna. Karen was preceded in death by her son, David, and her husband, Harry. She passed away peacefully on January 21st surrounded by the love of her family at the age of 82.

Karen was deeply beloved by all who knew her. A dedicated member of Zion Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Karen served on Alter Care and Women’s Guild LWML and volunteered at the Once Around Shop. Her interests included sewing, Bible study, baking, reading, gardening, and spending time outdoors. Karen cherished the companionship of dear friends from the neighborhood and church who enriched her life. She also found immense joy in the company of her two sisters, Jan and Becky. Whether reminiscing about their childhood in Mt. Healthy, attending the theater, or enjoying sister sleepovers, they always made the most of their time together.

Above all, Karen’s greatest love was her family. She was incredibly proud of her three sons and embraced their wives as though they were her own daughters. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren treasured the time they spent with her, whether on vacations, grill-outs, holiday feasts, or playing countless rounds of Skip-Bo.

Karen’s Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran on Friday, January 24th from 9:00 AM to the time of the service at 10:00 AM. Memorials to Zion Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor’s choice. The Arlington Memorial Gardens is serving the family.
