Karla LaVonne Sferro

It is with a mix of sorrow and celebration that we announce the passing of Karla LaVonne Sferro, who left us on April 29, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on February 5, 1939, in Ashland, OH, Karla lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories, residing in Urbana, OH, until her final days.

Karla was a devoted school aide at Schwab Middle School, where she positively impacted the lives of countless students with her kindness and nurturing spirit. To her family, she was the beloved mom, Mamaw, and Gigi, known for her infectious laughter and her ability to bring joy to any gathering. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating treasured moments and cherished traditions.

Described as stylish and full of life, Karla had an affinity for shopping, particularly at her favorite store, Kohl’s. Her love for music, especially the soul-stirring tunes of Elvis, resonated deeply in her joyful spirit.

Karla is survived by her children, Pellar (Richard) Miller, Sharla (Brian) Sferro-Turner and Shaun (Mindy) Sferro. She leaves behind her dear siblings: Jeannette Findley, Loyle Findley, Dennis Findley, and Debbie Choken. Her family expands through her grandchildren Brad (Jacqui) Miller, Liz-Beth Daniels, Kaycee (Sammy) Brown, Karli Daniels, Maycee Miller, Brandi Turner, Taylor Turner, and Braden Sferro, along with her great-grandchildren: Aiden Fitzpatrick, Emery Brown, Charlotte Miller, Rosie Miller, Monroe Brown, Laker Brown, and Porter Brown. Each of them carries a piece of her loving spirit in their hearts.

Karla was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Lenore Findley, her beloved husband, Robert Paul Sferro, and her siblings: Doyle Findley, Daryl Findley, Lowell Findley, and Kermit Findley.

As we honor Karla’s remarkable life, we invite family and friends to join us in a series of celebrations of her life on Friday, May 30, 2025. A memorial service at Arlington Memorial Gardens Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 PM. To conclude the celebrations a reception at 1:30 PM will be held at Arlington Memorial Gardens Community Center, where we will share stories, laughter, and the joy of having known her.
