Lorraine Edith Loomans

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorraine Edith Loomans, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of the Lord, who left this world on August 25, 2026, at the age of 98. Lorraine was born in Racine, Wisconsin, on March 16, 1928, and spent the majority of her life in loving service to her church, her family, her friends, and her community.

Lorraine was a dedicated teacher of elementary grades and the childcare industry, holding a bachelor’s degree in education from Central College in Pella, Iowa. She retired as the Director of the Family of God Childcare, where she brought joy and nurturing to countless children. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her professional life. Church was her number one love, where her heart shone brightly through her participation in the healing ministry. Lorraine was known for her compassion, regularly offering counsel, prayer, and friendship to those in need.

Family was at the core of Lorraine’s life. She is survived by her three children, Gary (Joann) Loomans, Julianne (Rusty) Hohnroth, and Dan (Kim) Loomans, along with her cherished grandchildren: Hans (Liz) Loomans, Olivia (Alex) Owens, Grace Loomans, Leland Ericson, and DJ Loomans. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Penny Owens, Jenna Owens, Brody Owens, Finn Loomans, and Oak Loomans. Lorraine also leaves behind her dear sister, Shirley Verdoorn.

Throughout her life, Lorraine demonstrated a profound love for music, particularly traditional hymns, and gospel songs. She cherished the time spent vacationing with her husband, Maurice, whose memory she held dear until her passing. Their 61 years of marriage were a testament to their deep bond and commitment to each other, which began on a summer evening service during the early days of their love story.

In addition to her family and faith, Lorraine enjoyed following her favorite sports teams, especially the Cincinnati Reds and the Green Bay Packers. A remarkable woman of resilience, she began working at Teleoptic during World War II and later at Johnson Wax, where she transitioned from the assembly line to the administrative department, and later attended college.

The family invites all who knew and loved Lorraine to join them in honoring her remarkable life. Funeral services will be held at Christ Covenant Church, located at 2191 Struble Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM with service following at 11:30 AM. An opportunity for family and friends to come together in reflection and remembrance of Lorraine’s unwavering spirit and her profound impact on all who had the privilege to know her.

Lorraine’s life was a beautiful tapestry of faith, love, and dedication, and she will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Jessie Tuinstra, her beloved husband, Maurice Loomans, and her siblings, Floyd Tuinstra, Evelyn Nedervelt, Ruth Peacock, Marcella Kuiper, Ralph Tuinstra, and Don Tuinstra.
