A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Agnes Doone, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, who departed this life on October 26, 2025, in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 93.
Born on August 19, 1932, in Cincinnati, Margaret dedicated her life to her family and community. As a devoted housewife and mother, she exemplified love and care, nurturing her children, Barbara (Ron) Childress, Carolyn (Dwayne) Irvin, and Michael (Connie) Doone, with unwavering devotion. Her warmth and thoughtfulness extended to her grandchildren, Lindsey Irvin, Emily Doone, Kelly Doone, and Cory (Jordan) Childress, as well as her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Childress, Ethan Childress and Axel Drayer, and great- great grandchild Bryson Childress. They will always remember her kind spirit and sharp wit.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, George and Estella Mayfield, her step daddy, Warren Douthwaite, her sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Charles) Reaver; her brother, Jack Mayfield; her beloved husband of 68 years, James Doone.
Margaret played an active role in her community, serving as a remedial reading instructor at Midway Elementary Public School, where she passionately nurtured young minds. She was also a founding member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, where her faith and generosity impacted many.
A passionate lover of literature, Margaret found great joy in reading and sharing stories. Family cruising and cherished vacations to Longboat Key, Florida, created lasting memories filled with laughter and love. Known for her sarcastic humor, she often left her loved ones smiling, especially with her banter about candles and fond reminders from her late husband about “burning the house down.” Her fondness for cardinals and wind chimes will resonate as a beautiful tribute to her spirit.
In celebration of Margaret’s remarkable life, family and friends will gather for a funeral service on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, located at 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (Follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park). Prior to the service, a visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Her final resting place will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Restoration, where her memory will be honored through the love she shared and the lives she touched.
Margaret leaves behind a legacy of compassion, humor, and unwavering love. We celebrate her life and the joyful memories she created with all who knew her. May her spirit live on in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Margaret’s life to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate/ or Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash https://hospiceofcincinnati.org/.
