Margaret J. Gerhardt

August 20, 1972 – August 31, 2025

Margaret J. Gerhardt

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Margaret Jacqueline “Jackie” Gerhardt, who left us peacefully on August 31, 2025, under the loving care of the Monon Group Home nurses and caregivers. Born on August 20, 1972, in Cincinnati, OH, Jackie filled her 53 years of life with joy, laughter, and an undeniable spirit that touched everyone she encountered.

Jackie, a proud graduate of Frederick Breyer School in 1994, was known for her incredible involvement in the Special Olympics, where she won numerous medals, showcasing her determination and strength. Saturdays were a special highlight for Jackie as she participated in a bowling league, where she thrived alongside friends from other group homes and individuals. Jackie was a true social butterfly, making connections wherever she went.

Jackie is survived by her loving sisters, Virginia A. “Ginger” (Chuck) Fuerbacher and Suzan C. “Suzie” (the late Larry) Decker, as well as her brother, Herman J. “Johnny” Gerhardt. Jackie was also cherished by her late siblings, including Thomas J. Gerhardt III and Clara F. “Carrie” (Alan) Sams. Her loving spirit lives on through her 15 nieces and nephews, 25 great-nieces and nephews, and 3 great-great-nephews, all of whom she adored fiercely.

Jackie’s passions were as vibrant as her personality—Jackie loved music, whether it be singing in her karaoke machine or coloring and signing her artwork. Jackie found joy in running, dancing, and indulging in her favorite foods like Taco Bell, hamburgers and fries, and spaghetti and meatballs. Jackie had an infectious laugh and a big heart, always ready to shower her loved ones with hugs and affection.

We invite friends and family to join us in celebrating Jackie’s life. Services will take place on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park). Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:30 am, and a graveside service in the Garden of Restoration immediately following.

As we gather to honor Jackie, let us remember her gentle spirit, her stubborn determination, and the immense love Jackie gave to everyone she met. Jackie may have departed from this world, but her light continues to shine brightly in our hearts. May Jackie rest in peace.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Gerhardt Jr., Carol Gerhardt, her siblings, Clara Sams, Thomas Gerhardt III, and her brother-in-law, Lawrence Decker.

“Jackie was a joy to be around! Her laughter was contagious, and she didn’t know a stranger. We enjoyed her antics designed to make us laugh, and her playful spirit. Our prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time!”
