Marlene J. Bender, 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully, on July 26, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 9, 1933, in Cincinnati to Daniel and Sophia (nee Miller) Johnson.
Marlene married Edward F. Bender on October 19, 1963, and they shared a lifetime of love and memories together. Marlene is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Edward; her loving children Donna (Joe) Dillon, Karen (Jeff) Dale, Edward D. (Tricia) Bender, grandchildren, Jackie Howard, Nick (Kendall) Howard, Johnny (Jackie) Dillon, Joseph Dillon, Emily Bender, Jennifer Dillon, Edward R. Bender, Sarah Bender, great-grandchildren, Wakely Howard, Willow Weaver, Ada Dillon, brother, Stanley Johnson and many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Daniel Johnson, sisters, Cecelia Macke, Jeannine Currens and Sophia Dugan.
Marlene was a proud graduate of Woodward High School and worked at the Charles McCullough Seed Company and the Guy Randolph Insurance Agency. She was a longtime resident of Delhi Township, she found joy in cooking, hosting family gatherings, and all the children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and she also enjoyed family vacations and annual trips to Florida.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5th 2024, from 9:30 am until Mass begins at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3440 Lumardo Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45238. Marlene will be laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Gardens.

Marlene will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, warmth, and love will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
