Martha Sueann Ash Miller

October 9, 1949 – november 2, 2025

Martha Sueann Ash Miller

Martha Sueann Ash Miller, beloved sister, mama bear, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 76. Born October 9, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Martha lived a life rich with creativity, generosity, warmth, and love.

Martha earned her nickname Mama Bear because of how fiercely she loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Martha was a talented artistic spirit, who loved painting, sewing, crocheting, and cross-stitching projects, mostly to give away as gifts for loved ones. Martha was able to create beauty in all forms. Everything she touched, including lives, were better because of it. She adored her great big family including her siblings, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She made many happy memories with her family camping at Winton Woods, where laughter and stories filled the air.

Her love for the outdoors was evident in her fondness for swimming, ice skating, and horseback riding. Fall was a particularly special time for Martha. She appreciated the changing colors of the leaves, the crispness in the air, and all of the special celebrations with her family. One of the biggest reasons fall was her favorite was because she got to celebrate her birthday with her twin sister Mary.

Martha was also a very generous soul. Over the years, she opened her home to many people in times of need and was the first one to offer any help if she was able. After years of constant companionship, she did her best to make sure her baby sister Leslee had a home even after she was gone. Martha leaves a legacy of an open door and many tearful conversations held at her kitchen table. She had a sympathetic heart, free of judgment for other’s mistakes, just ready to help them when needed.

Martha is survived by her siblings Jonna Wright, Mary Scalf, Leslee Ash, and Daniel Ash; her children Melisa Summy, Monica Gilbert, John Miller, and Nicholas Miller; her grandchildren Kerri McCuistion, Mia Summy, Michael Summy, Dakota Gilbert, Cory Gilbert, Violet Miller, Atreyu Miller, Lillian Miller, and Luna Miller; her great grandchildren Kai McCuistion, Neil McCuistion, Eve McCuistion, Johnny Glancy, Marilyn Glancy, Audrey Phillips, Ila Phillips, and Harley Gilbert.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents John and Ruth Ash, her siblings Raymond Ash, Gladys Rechel, David Hendricks, Joseph Hendricks, Jerry Hendricks, and Kenneth Hendricks.

A Celebration of Life for Martha will be held on Monday, November 10th, 2025 at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE Line). Visitation will begin at 12:30pm with a funeral service following at 1:30pm. Burial will take place at 2:30pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens.

Martha Sueann Ash Miller leaves behind a legacy of artistic creativity, compassion, and an enduring love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
