A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
Mary Ann Smith, a beloved sister and wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025 with her family at her side. Mary Ann was born on June 16, 1949 in Covington, KY.
Mary Ann attended Notre Dame Academy in Park Hills, Kentucky. Upon graduation, she spent her years in Cincinnati, OH, where she joyfully shared her life with husband Donald (of 54 years) and a nurturing mother to her three sons – David, Brian (Christine), and Steven (Ellen).
Mary Ann had many passions, including crochet and cross-stitching, allowing her to showcase her creativity. She lovingly crafted baby afghans, a testament to her love for children. Her culinary expertise, especially in Italian cuisine, made her famous for her unmatched meatballs and spaghetti, as well as her delicious Italian baked goods. She possessed a remarkable talent for selecting the perfect gifts, each one a reflection of her thoughtfulness.
A deeply religious and compassionate woman, Mary Ann was selfless to a fault, always putting others before herself. Her love of nature led her to the Smoky Mountains as well as to Michigan and Mackinac Island, inspired by God’s magnificent creations.
Mary Ann was also a proud grandmother, delighted to have five grandchildren: Collin, Bryce, Cameron, Melanie, and Own, who will always remember the warmth of her love and the joy she brought to their lives. Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband Donald, her three sons, her brother Tom (Marlene) Burkhart, her sister Toinette (Mike) Riehle, and her five cherished grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be profoundly missed and remembered for her unwavering love, selflessness, and kind spirit. May she rest in peace.
