Mary Rita Wagner

In Loving Memory of Mary Rita Wagner

Mary Rita Wagner, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, peacefully passed away on November 5, 2023, in Cincinnati, OH, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 16, 1937, along with her twin sister Martha, in Dayton, KY.   Her parents instilled in her the values of love and kindness and the importance of serving others.

Mary dedicated her life to her family and friends and found joy spending time with them.  She was an avid reader, competitive game player and loved traveling to many places. Her bright spirit and warm smile brightened the lives of those around her, and she touched the hearts of many.

Mary’s unwavering commitment to her community was evident in her years of service as a secretary at St. Bartholomew School. Her dedication and professionalism were admired by all who had the pleasure of working with her. She left an impact on the children, as well as, the staff.  After retirement she continued her service to the youth via school tutoring and involvement in the youth group of the parish.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Carl Wagner of 66 years, her brother James (Joyce) Fehr, her sister, Helen Fehr, her loving daughters, Kathy (Danny) Depperman and Judy (Steve) Naber, and grandchildren Nick (Karen), Kyle, Megan, Danielle (Jimmy) and Drew (Melissa), great grandchildren Joey, Betsy, Vincent, Quinn, Luka, Conley, and Everett. She also lives on in the hearts of her dear friends and family members. Mary’s legacy of love, strength, and resilience will forever live on in their hearts.

Visitation will be held St. Bartholomew Church, 9375 Winton Rd, Cincinnati 45231, on November 10, 2023, beginning at 9:30 am.  Mass to honor the life of Mary Rita Wagner will be held at 11:00 am at St. Bartholomew Church, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life immediately following at the Central Park Clubhouse, 7807 Ramble View, Cincinnati, 45231.

As we say our final goodbyes, let us remember Mary Rita Wagner as a compassionate, fun-loving, and caring individual who brightened the lives of those around her. May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory forever inspire us to live with love and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, who compassionately cared for Mary during her final days.

“I saw the online mass for her funeral. I wanted to share that a rush of memories of her when she worked at St Barts school came back. She touched many lives! Sympathies to your family.”

“Dear Kathy and Judy, my heart is saddened by the loss of your mother. Your mom’s loved touched so many! Our lives are better by knowing her. Unfortunately, I am subbing in Kentucky on Friday. I will be thinking and praying for all of you as you cherish her memory. Know that I hold all of you in my heart and will always remember the days shared with her, and you and your children, at St. Bart’s. My live is richer just by knowing all of you. God bless you all. With love, Agnes Brunner”
