Obituary via Spring Grove Funeral Home

Norma Jean Souders (nee Turner), age 85 of Byrdstown, TN passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 30, 2023, with Willie, her loving husband of 63 years, by her side.

Norma was born on July 2, 1937 to James W. Turner and Edith M. Roll (nee Smith) in Newport, Kentucky. After graduating from Newport High School, Norma went on to work as a secretary while she and Willie raised their family. In retirement, Norma and Willie moved to Dale Hollow where spent her days doing what she loved most: fishing, taking care of her cats, and spending time with family and friends. Norma was a lifelong devout Methodist and member of the choir; her faith and compassion extended into all aspects of her life, and she was known by the community as the woman to bring any sick or injured animal that needed nursed back to health. Norma is remembered by everyone as being a loving, kind, and generous woman to all. 

Norma was proceeded in death by her parents James and Edith; step-father, Milton Roll; step-mother, Gertrude Turner; sisters Eileen Combs, Sandra Brenner, and Rosemary Roll; brother, John Turner; step-daughter, Mary Eide; step-sons, John and Robert Souders. 

She leaves behind her husband Willie Souders; son, Randy Collins; daughter, Kay (Chuck) Valentine; son, Bill (Laura) Souders; son, Greg Souders; son, Aaron (Mireya) Souders; step-daughter Katie (Larry) Pack; step-son, Michael Souders; 25 grandchildren, 47 great-grand children, 21 great-great-grandchildren, her beloved pets, and friends and family members. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of Norma’s favorite causes such as St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the ASPCA, or Shriners Hospital for Children.

Funeral services will be held at SPRING GROVE FUNERAL HOME, 7830 Hamilton Ave, Cincinnati on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 12:30 pm. A visitation will be held on at the funeral home on Saturday February 4, 2023 from 10:30 am until the time of services. Graveside services will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
