Shay Maureen Allison

Shay Maureen Allison, age 76, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. Shay was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to her late parents, Edgar Gubin and Margie James. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Stephen C. Allison; her daughters, Lauren Maureen Allison and Leslie Elizabeth Allison, and her granddaughter, Sabrina “Frank” Allison; her brother, Tom Strohmaier (Peg); her in-laws JoAnn Allgeier (late Ken), Diane Allison (late Mike) and Deb Alexander (Jim); her nieces and nephews, Eddie Strohmaier (Grace), Paige Strohmaier, Phoebe Dierkers (Ryan) and Mike Strohmaier, Lisa Allison (Jeffrey), Mark Allgeier, Lynnette Beach, Jim Alexander, Jason (Kari) Alexander; cousins Bill Deonch (Cathy), Hollie Doench, Michelle Nurre (Joseph) and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

Pre-high school, Shay attended Ursuline Academy and graduated from Deer Park High School, Class of ’66. She met and married the “love of her life” and enjoyed 55 years of marriage raising 2 daughters along with caring for her husband and granddaughter. Both Shay and her husband Steve went on to attend the University of Cincinnati in addition to Shay working at UC’s Administrative offices to help offset tuition costs. Anyone who ever met, worked with or spent time with Shay loved her positive spirit and willingness to help others. She truly was one of the sweetest people on the planet!! Shay had a flair for home decorating and was a consummate cook, but her true passion was animals of all kinds, especially Siberian Huskies. Two of her seven Siberian Huskies received special training and became certified “Pet therapy” dogs enriching the lives of special needs children and the elderly. Shay also loved horses and volunteering at a horse rescue farm as well as serving as a side walker for therapeutic riding lessons.

Although Shay’s passing leaves us with great sadness, she will live forever in our hearts.
