A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
Shirley Jeanette Gregory, a free-spirited and talented soul, will be celebrating her life and legacy in upcoming ceremonies with those who loved her dearly. A lifelong pianist and lover of music, Shirley was known for her wild and unique sense of style, often donning her signature crazy hats. She found joy in drawing, assisting others in her own way, and the sweet aroma of vanilla candles that filled her home.
Throughout her life, Shirley’s intelligence shone brightly, earning her a spot on the honor roll in school. She adored the company of her beloved cat Ming and spending time with her dear friend Georgia, with whom she shared a special bond. Shirley was a familiar face in her community, bringing music and joy to nursing homes as part of a kitchen band ensemble.
Shirley cherished moments spent traveling with her aunts, May and Georgia. Her appreciation for flowers and the music brought her immense happiness and comfort.
She leaves to cherish her sisters, Charlotte Hogeback and Jane (Denny) Lang, her children Cynthia and Christopher Gregory, her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Margaret Schmerr (nee Fair), and her brother Kenny Schmerr.
Join us in bidding farewell to Shirley Jeanette Gregory at her upcoming memorial services, where we will celebrate her life. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Arlington Memorial Gardens Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel at 10:00 am, followed by a Nicheside Service at 11:00 am.
In Shirley’s memory, let us honor her zest for life, her love for music, and the kindness she exuded to all those around her. May she rest in peace, eternally cherished and remembered.
