Swilferd “Squire” Lemons Jr., age 94, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2023.
Squire was born in Covington, Kentucky to Swilferd Sr. and Maud Lemons.
He attended Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky. He served in the United States Army at the end of World War 2 and then for two tours in the Korean Conflict. He then returned to Kentucky, marrying Martha Elizabeth Howard in 1952.
He moved to Mt. Healthy, Ohio in 1958 to be closer to his job as a pressman at the Standard Publishing Company, where he worked for thirty-six years. He became deeply involved in the then-new Highview Christian Church. There he served in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher, youth leader, deacon, and elder for forty-five years. He continued to attend faithfully until his health made that impossible recently.
His wife Martha preceded him in death in 1972.
Squire married Lois (Busam) Lemons on November 1, 1975.
Squire is survived by his wife Lois Lemons, children Cynthia (Harold) Orndorff, Linda (Jim) Emerson, Leslie (Mark) Geisen, Julie (Tim) Zinser, Taylor (Willy) Busam, and Randall Busam.
He is also survived by 13 Grandchildren and 27 Great grandchildren, and siblings Bette Anderson and Nancye Strasser.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Frances Cherrington, Retta Havey, and Edith Sandlin, and his son Jeffrey Lemons.
Services for Squire will be held Wednesday, April 5 with visitation at 9:30 am and memorial service at 11:00 am at the facilities of the Highview Christian Church located at 2651 Adams Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45231.
Squire requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Highview Christian Church 2651 Adams Road Cincinnati, OH 45231.
