Thelma A. Reed (nee Peak), age 97 years, passed away peacefully at her home in Green Township on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Charles Reed. Dear mother of Marsha Reed, Karen Tompkins, Jeff (Linda) Reed, Mark (Stephen Williams) Reed and the late Joyce Ann Reed. Loving grandmother of Emily (Andrew) Smith, Bethany (Logan) Harris, Hilary (Jeremiah) Riddell and Cassidy (Mike) Worboys; Jim O’Donnell, Cheryl (Brad Cass)
O’Donnell, Crystal (Lauren Porter) Reed, Brittany Reed and great grandmother of Ailey, Etta, Luca, Ethan, Maddy and Porter. Devoted sister of Norma Jean (the late Norman) Sampieri and the late Fleda May Trapp and Joyce Oleen Peters. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Thelma, the second of four daughters was born to Glen and Geneva Peak on September 26, 1927 in Cincinnati, OH. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1945 and the Cincinnati Bible Seminary in 1950 with a Bachelor Degree in Sacred Literature. She and her late husband, Charles, taught Children’s Church at New Burlington Church of Christ, where she also served as Secretary for many years. Her love for children was exemplified as she and Charles fostered children in the 1980’s, and for many years she volunteered reading with children in the Whiz Kids program. Thelma was well loved by all who knew her and is best remembered for her peanut brittle and handmade cards. Visitation will be held at White Oak Christian Church, 3675 Blue Rock Road, (45247) on Friday, January 31 from 9 am – 10:30 am with Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Impact West Africa c/o White Oak Christian Church.
