Tom passed away peacefully in Arlington, Texas on October 16, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. 

Tom was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 19, 1959 to the late Frederick Schmidt and Charlene Strotman Schmidt Jarman. He was a natural athlete and he enjoyed the outdoors. Tom’s kindness and concern for others were among his best qualities. He was intelligent and witty, and he loved spending time with family and friends. 

After relocating to North Texas in 1990, Tom worked for many years at his family’s emergency auto assistance company where he wore many hats; most recently acting as office manager and customer service representative. 

Tom is survived by his mother Charlene Jarman, and his sister Theresa Gamboa (Nicholas), as well as two brothers Mark Schmidt (Lebra) and Stephen Schmidt (Kelly). He is survived by his nieces Alexandra and Samantha Gamboa, Mary Margaret Schmidt, and Brittney Dorough (Wes), as well as his nephew Charles Schmidt (Amy). He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.

A gathering of family and friends is planned for Friday, November 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.

Donations to the American Cancer Society can be made in honor of Tom.
