Obituary for Thomas Eugene Finnerty

Thomas Eugene Finnerty, a beloved father, grandfather, and devoted veteran, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on October 11, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Thomas lived a life rich with experiences, skills, and stories that he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A proud member of the U.S. Army, Thomas served his country during the Korean War, demonstrating bravery and dedication as he contributed to the defense of freedom. After his military service, he returned to civilian life, where he became a talented tradesman known for his diverse skills in electrical work, plumbing, and painting. His hands crafted not only homes but also enduring memories for his family.

Outside of work, Thomas found joy in fishing and scuba diving, exploring the depths of lakes and the vastness of oceans with the same enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of life. He was also a graceful ballroom dancer. Thomas had a keen eye for treasures and could often be found bargain hunting at thrift stores and garage sales, relishing the thrill of the find.

As a proud member of the American Legion, Thomas valued his friendships formed through shared experiences with fellow veterans, and his commitment to service extended into his community. His spirit of camaraderie and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Thomas is survived by his loving sons, Thomas “Kelly” (Peggy) Finnerty and Timothy (Pamala) Finnerty; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Kaitlin Finnerty, Thomas “Kyle” (Lindsay) Finnerty, Seth Finnerty, and Shaela Finnerty. Each of them carry forward his legacy, filled with laughter, kindness, and resilience.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Finnerty and Eleanora Finnerty, and sister, Marleen Freeman.
