Vivian Miller

October 10, 1926 – January 10, 2023

Vivian Miller

Vivian Miller died January 10, 2023, peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of family and friends both near and far.  She was born in Redford, Michigan in 1926 and grew up with a large family in Michigan.  Her mom Kathleen died when she was just five, so she and her siblings became very close to their grandmothers who helped raise them. Her dad, Norman, eventually remarried, and her stepmother Helen Glass became a friend for life. After graduating from Berkley High School, she briefly worked for General Motors. After that, she and her best friend Joanne Dodge took off for Minnesota to attend radio school. Upon graduation, they went to Chicago for a month to be trained by United Airlines.  They were then assigned to LaGuardia Airport in New York City as radio operators.  Among their many adventures and joyful times there, they both met their future husbands.  And more good times ensued!

During her first date with Walter Miller, the band played “Walter, lead me to the altar. ”  The couple married on June 13th, 1947.  Eventually they settled in Greenhills, Ohio with their 2 children, Tom and Kathy. Vivian was a brownie leader, den mother and an active community member along with her many other hats.

In 1961 they were transferred to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and bought a house in Bucks County, where they resided for the duration of their lives. Vivian worked in admissions at Doylestown Hospital during the late 60s. After retirement, they traveled throughout the country in their trailer named The Intrepid.  Vivian was known for her loving ways, very sharp memory, sly wisdom and wicked sense of humor.

She was predeceased by: her husband Walt Miller; her mother Kathleen Ridley and father Norman Provot; her stepmother Helen Glass; her sisters Kaye Madison and Leota Morse; her brothers, Alan Provot, Pete Provot and David Provot.

Vivian is survived by her brother, Bert Provot; her daughter, Kathy Locker; her son and his wife, Tom and Vicki Miller; her grandson, Brendan Locker (& Janice Balas); her granddaughter, Erin Little (& Ian Little); her great-grandchildren, Evan and Casey Locker; her three Miller sisters-in-law, Clara, Jean and Pat; and numerous beloved nephews and nieces.
