A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara L. Jones, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend, who left this world on March 5, 2026, at the age of 88. Born in Louisville, KY, Barb dedicated her life to reading the pages of her family’s stories, filled with the love and laughter that characterized her spirit.
Barb worked as a sales clerk at various retail stores throughout her career. Barb exemplified warmth and kindness in all her interactions, ensuring that everyone felt special and valued. Her deep-seated faith guided her life, and she cherished taking her children and grandchildren to church, where her devoted presence instilled a sense of community and love in their hearts.
Affectionately known as “Grandma Barbie,” she created a sanctuary on her back porch, where she delighted in sipping coffee, hanging with her dogs, and spending time with her family. Barb also enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas and westerns. To anyone who crossed her threshold, she offered more than just a meal; she extended a feeling of belonging, making each visitor feel loved, welcomed, cared for, and always telling them to “not be a stranger”.
Barb is survived by her cherished children: son Edmond Jones, son Timothy (Teresa) Jones, daughter Teresa (Bill) Polen, and daughter Felicia (Jeff) Mutters. She leaves behind an adoring legacy of grandchildren: Andy Jones, Nicole (Nick) Turner, Lila (Tyler) Fischer, Amanda Jones, Randy Jones, Heather Jones, Eryka Redden, Samantha (Michael) Gaffney, Tyler (Amy) Jones, and Mathew Mutters, as well as great-grandchildren Katelyn, Charlotte, Jayden, Camdyn, Brayden, Kyrie, Kamiyah, and Deklyn, and great-great-grandchild, Lilian. She is also survived by her loving cousins Wilbur, Geneva, and Margaret, and her beloved companion Sugar Baby Jones.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Jones, parents, James Bird Lawson and Icey Dovie Lawson, son, George (Vickie) Jones, and brothers, George Lawson, Bill Lawson, and Simon Lawson.
Barbara’s life was a tapestry woven with strength, wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.

“I only got to know Barbara for a short time while she was at the SpringHill assisted living facility in Middletown. She was always a pleasure to talk to and seemed to have a smile when she greeted you. She certainly enjoyed our grandson Will when we would bring him to see his great grandmother Rosemary. I just wanted her family to know that even though we knew her just a short time that’s all it takes to make an impression sometimes. With Sincere Condolences, Mike Lawson”

“Barbara was my first cousin , we always played together as kids at our Family reunion. Later on we both married and I ended up in Florida and she was fortunate to stay near her family. She was a delightful Lady. I was so happy we reconnected in last few years at our family reunion in Knoxville, Tn. We got to meet her daughter Teresa, which was a pleasure. God Bless Barbara’s family and friends.”
