Obituary for Gladys Lee Ruter
Gladys Lee Ruter, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on January 18, 1932, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and spent most of her life in Finneytown, where she created a warm and loving home for her family.
Gladys was a dedicated professional in the retail industry, having worked at McAlpins, where her kindness and charm left a lasting impression on both colleagues and customers alike. Her high school diploma was just the beginning of her lifelong love of learning, which she shared through her passion for reading. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending many summers picnicking with family, participating in golf leagues during her younger years, and enjoying the camaraderie of the Red Hat Society.
A lover of word searches, Gladys often found solace in the challenge they presented, and her gentle spirit and unwavering support touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Family gatherings were particularly special for Gladys-nothing brought her more joy than celebrating the holidays surrounded by her loved ones. Gladys also had a passion for elephants!
She leaves behind her cherished sons, Mark (Melody) Ruter and Gary (Yvonne) Ruter, and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Harman, brothers, Charles Harman and Alan Harman, sister, Betty Laub, and daughter, Beth Schiavo.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 10:00am-11:00am at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE Line).
