Marcia Jean Grace

august 25, 1937 – february 2, 2026

Marcia Jean Grace

With deep love and sorrow, we share the passing of Marcia Jean Grace, a beloved partner, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who left us on February 2, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on August 25, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Marcia dedicated her life caring for others, both professionally and personally. She spent her career as a Registered Nurse at University Hospital, serving patients with compassion and touching countless lives throughout her community.

Marcia was a woman of many passions. She found joy in the beauty of nature, particularly through her love of flowers and gardening. Her nurturing spirit extended to all living things, as she delighted in the simple pleasure of feeding the birds and caring for her beloved pets. Marcia also enjoyed many rounds of golf and sets of tennis. Known for her generosity, Marcia dedicated herself to giving back, exemplified by her service at the Church of Our Saviour in Mt. Auburn, a testament to her deep faith and commitment to her community.

Marcia is survived by her loving partner, Lin Thomas; her son Joel (Monica) Grace; her daughter Jennifer (Michael) Vogel; and her cherished grandchildren Virginia (Tom), Vanessa, Joseph (Jena),  Veronica (Mike), Jarrett (Jessica), Alison (Cody), James (Alissa), and 16 great-grandchildren. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Myrtle Sturgeon, dear friends, Mary Pitcher and Hetti Noever, and her loving pets, Danny Boy and Dylan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9th, 2026 from 10:00-11:00am at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE line). A funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Burial will take place at 12:00pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens.

As we gather to remember Marcia, we will celebrate a life well-lived, marked by kindness, love, and an unwavering dedication to those she served. Her spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of her family and community.

“Marcia, you will be missed by many. You were a delight to be around and though our friendship developed late in life it was truly special to us. I will always think of you surrounded by beautiful and colorful flowers, and I will always admire how you made them thrive. Our prayers to your family and a gentle hug for you, Lin. Love.”

“I began my nursing career in 1979 on 8N with Marcia as head nurse. I did not know the impact this would have on my life. Marcia was a role model who embodied nursing in a professional and personal way. She was a compassionate caregiver and leader .She was warmhearted ,devoted to the patients and her staff. She surrounded herself with dedicated nurses on 8N.She was always reassuring us and giving of her time to help us. Lasting friendships were made and we began to meet for 8N lunches when we retired .Marcia was such a large part of why this occurred .Marcia brought out the best in all of us. Her legacy of kindness will continue through all the people she touched in her life. I am so thankful that she was a part of my life story.”

“Nurse Marcia Jean Grace, we recognize you and pay homage to your dedication to the profession of nursing. Your life as a nurse is not remembered by your years as a nurse, but rather by the difference you made by stepping into people’s lives…by special moments. We extend our deepest sympathies to your family. The Cincinnati Nurses Honor Guard”

“Marcia was a part of my life, all 51 years. She was my grandmas best friend, Mary Pitcher, and supported me throughout my entire life from birthdays, and holidays to girl chat lunches. She was the kindest soul, never had a bad word to say about anyone and I poked up to her in every way possible. She was the sweetest, most caring, and loyal person I ever met in my 51 years. I will miss her so very much. Thoughts and prayers to her children, grandchildren who she spoke about throughout the years and to her special person, Lin Clay.”
