Obituary for Marlene Ruth Hogue

Marlene “Marty” Ruth Hogue, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on October 3, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Marty lived a life filled with love, laughter, and many cherished memories.

Marty dedicated her career as a lab technician at Procter & Gamble, where her contributions to the were invaluable. She was known for her meticulous work ethic and a joyful spirit that brightened the workplace. Beyond her professional life, Marty was a vibrant member of her community, actively involved in the Order of the Eastern Star and the Olympian Club.

Marty was a true lover of life’s simple pleasures. She found joy in shopping excursions, delighting in the tastes of BLTs, ice cream, and iced tea-little indulgences that brought her great happiness. A sports enthusiast, she cherished watching her grandchildren in various sports, cheering them on with unyielding support. Marty enjoyed playing softball and volleyball. Her love for dancing and engaging with her family during gatherings created a tapestry of warmth and connection that will be deeply missed.

In her quieter moments, Marty enjoyed the comfort of a good book, particularly those by Danielle Steel. She found joy in puzzles and games, often challenging herself with crossword puzzles and solitaire. A creative spirit, she loved making tie blankets, a heartfelt craft that she shared with her family, wrapping them in warmth and love.

Marty is survived by her beloved children, Traci (Eric) Covalcine, Mike (Cheri) Hogue, and Melissa Hogue, as well as her cherished grandchildren: David Hogue, Jack Hogue, Desirae McHone, and Jeremy Covalcine. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Jack Hogue II, Kilia Hogue, and Brayden Burns, whose smiles and laughter brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by many nephews and a niece.

Marty was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hogue, parents, Raymond and Thelma Smith, daughter, Tami Hogue, grandson, Michael Hogue, and sister, Ginny (Carl) Rose.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 10:00-11:00am at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE Line). A funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Burial will take place at 12:00pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231.

Marty will be laid to rest in a serene burial, where she will forever rest in peace, surrounded by the love of her family and the memories of a life well-lived.
